Activities, Events and Staff Movements

Auckland

In 2020 Hayes Knight joined the Nexia International network to provide clients with stronger national and international connections. In April 2021 the Auckland-based firm took that a step further and rebranded to Nexia New Zealand. To showcase the services offered by Nexia New Zealand offices in Auckland and Christchurch, the firms collectively launched a national website to support clients throughout New Zealand. The new website went live in May and both firms are now enjoying the benefits of working collaboratively; including a combined national LinkedIn page to share updates to a large audience of followers.

Christchurch

Our Christchurch office has recently appointed two new partners.
Nathan Breckell has become a partner after joining Nexia in 2019 as audit director. He continues to lead Nexia New Zealand’s national Audit & Assurance division in his new role.

Nathan’s twin brother, Aaron Breckell, has also joined the firm as a partner, working in Business Advisory. Aaron is Nexia’s 10th partner based in Christchurch, and with this appointment, the office now has one of the largest Business Advisory practices in the South Island.

Canberra

One of  Canberra’s Audit Partners participated in this year’s Vinnies CEO Sleepout. Garry Murphy went through chilly overnight temperatures on June 17 to help raise money for vulnerable Australians doing it tough.

Garry has been participating in the sleepout for several years and believes the cause is more relevant than ever.
“COVID-19 has resulted in many challenges for individuals and families and highlighted how susceptible we are. Whether it be the result of losing a job, a relationship breakdown, domestic and family violence, mental illness, a failing business or other event, there is often a fine line between living comfortably and homelessness.” He said.
