The Melbourne Office of Nexia Australia, a member firm of Nexia International, has taken the next step in its ambitious growth plan by merging with the Tax and Advisory Firm, GAP Accountants. The merger, effective as of 31 March 2023, has resulted in Nexia Melbourne adding two new partners, and an additional eight experts in important areas including SMSF, Tax, Advisory, Financial Services and Corporate Advisory. This merger will also see the entire shared services team from GAP retained, strengthening its culture of success-driven expertise.

Since 2004, GAP has gone from strength to strength, building a reputation as a leading independent firm of accountants, consultants and bookkeepers. GAP’s specialist expertise in the medical sector will enhance Nexia Melbourne’s already specialist expertise across Audit, Tax, Advisory, HR and Management Services.

Incoming Partners from the firm, Doug Abrahams and Eva Bonner have a combined 40-plus years of experience within the industry. Having established GAP as a viable private practice, they have both worked across several industry sectors, driving improvements within their clients’ businesses.

Vito Interlandi and Paul Clements, the Joint Managing Partners of Nexia Melbourne, will continue to oversee the newly integrated firms.

Vito Interlandi commented:

“This merger at its core is about the success of our clients and our team, and our strong commitment to our culture of client-centricity, underpinned by our people-focus. We see this merger as an opportunity to grow as a business, which in turn provides our clients with access to more people, more knowledge and confidence that our growth strongly enables shared success. Growing our presence in Victoria is a priority for both Nexia Melbourne and Nexia Australia as we continue to support our clients and their goals.”

“GAP has an ingrained culture of development and appreciation, as well as a reputation for servicing clients to the highest standards, making it a great fit for Nexia Melbourne’s vision. Success isn’t finite, the Team at GAP understands this and joining with Nexia reflects this sentiment.”

Paul Clements commented:

“GAP and their team have cultivated a reputation over the last 19 years for providing exceptional services. As both firms combine their operations, we will ensure we are executing our strategic growth agenda, continuing as an efficient, sustainable and client-focused team.”

“This merger emphasises us putting our words into action. Twelve months ago, when Vito and I stepped into the Managing Partner role, we were both committed to expanding our reach and re-focusing our approach to optimise our position in the market with the aim of becoming a ‘Top 10 Victorian Firm.’ On behalf of Nexia, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the team from GAP as they join the Nexia Melbourne family and the Nexia network more broadly.”

The merger will take the number of Partners at Nexia Melbourne to 13 and the overall team to 80.
