As Australia’s only business that exclusively sells, installs and supports Oracle enterprise software, Adelaide-based PrimeQ is certainly one business that is literally entitled to have its head firmly in the cloud – the intangible IT cloud that is.

The pace at which the business is growing, and the people who are starting to take notice however, is very much grounded in reality.

Staff numbers have doubled in the past 12 months, while the South Australian Government has invested half a million dollars toward business development, which is an indication of PrimeQ’s potential.

With the way the world is embracing cloud-based technology, it’s unlikely to slow down any time soon. Nexia Edwards Marshall is thrilled to be in partnership every step of the way.

Launched in April 2016, by five experienced IT industry leaders, PrimeQ set out to provide innovative Oracle Cloud solutions for some of the biggest brands in Australia and New Zealand. The key intent is to demonstrate to clients the significant cost savings and operational efficiencies that both private and public cloud solutions can deliver.

Chief Executive Andrew McAdams said cloud solutions were without doubt the way of the future and PrimeQ was focused on taking advantage of its position as a market leader in the space.

“By 2025, 80% of worldwide IT budgets will be spent on cloud services and PrimeQ is at the forefront of this shift in business management,” Andrew said.

“We’re intent on setting the right platform, and the infrastructure we have put in place will help spark major growth in cloud services across Australia and New Zealand.”

In under two years, the business now boasts more than 130 employees across Australia and New Zealand, with offices located in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Auckland and Wellington, with a Brisbane office being launched currently.

In 2017, a $500,000 grant from Investment Attraction South Australia (IASA) helped PrimeQ launch its “Cloud Campus” Graduate Program in Adelaide, an innovative program designed to create valuable pathways for university graduates to remain in South Australia and work closely with universities to develop cloud solutions.

The grant has also allowed the business to expand its operational capability, including the establishment of an Innovation Centre and a 24/7 Technology Support Hub.

The initiatives all point to further PrimeQ growth, but even more importantly, South Australian job creation.

Andrew McAdams said that Nexia, who provide auditing services for the company, have played a vital supporting role which has been pivotal during such a period of breakneck speed growth.

“Nexia have been there from the beginning and have supported us along the way to ensure that we have the right disciplines in place to protect our investors,” Andrew said.

“Their support has been critical in ensuring that we’re doing the right things in terms of driving the business and utilising our assets – including staff and our capital.

“That support is critical when you’re growing like we have and when we’re trusted with a significant investment from the SA Government. They provide great peace of mind.”

The growth and the challenges that come with it are only likely to keep coming, with the business anticipating strong revenue generating that will assist in expanding its offering, while they also plan to complete a number of acquisitions in Australia and New Zealand.

PrimeQ is looking at setting up a branch in the US, and will consider whether or not to pursue a public float later in 2018.

“It’s a really exciting time for us,” Andrew said.

“We know that while we’re experts in our field, the challenges will keep coming and we’re going to have to meet them if we want to keep growing the way we have been.

“It’s important to have a partner like Nexia in our corner with such an exciting road ahead.”

PrimeQ works with both national and international companies to implement their IT solutions, from on-premise work, to hybrid solutions, full cloud rollout, as well as upgrades and support, while also offering tailored solutions.

Clients include Coopers Brewery, Dyson Group, Westpac, Ministry of education NZ, InvoCare, V-Line, Pacific Brands and the State Government Victoria.
