About Joy
Joy Costales is a Manager – Technical Standards at Nexia Australia, helping shape the firm’s response to current and emerging developments in financial reporting and auditing.
Working with clients and colleagues across Australia and New Zealand, she provides practical guidance on the application and interpretation of Australian, New Zealand and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), while monitoring regulatory and financial reporting developments and contributing to accounting policies and technical interpretations.
A key part of her role is ensuring knowledge is shared across the network, supporting the development and delivery of financial reporting and audit updates, collaborating on audit training initiatives, and helping enhance Nexia Australia’s audit methodology to keep it current, practical and relevant.
Experience
Joy brings extensive audit, accounting, and technical experience across a range of sectors, with particular depth in listed entities, funds, and not‑for‑profit organisations. Her hands‑on experience includes working with Australian listed companies, investment managers, and both registered and unregistered managed investment schemes, as well as not‑for‑profit entities such as charities, schools, and faith‑based organisations. She has also supported multinational and Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) registered corporations operating across multiple regulatory environments.
Joy has assisted clients and engagement teams with complex accounting and financial reporting matters, including the application and interpretation of Australian Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Her work spans audit engagements, technical consultations, accounting policy development, and support on judgement‑based and emerging issues.
Prior to joining Nexia Australia, Joy accumulated over ten years of experience at a Big 4 firm and several mid‑tier firms in Australia and the Philippines. She regularly contributes to technical training, knowledge‑sharing initiatives, and audit methodology development.

- Member, Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) Australia
