After a successful early career in aviation, Matthew Barrett commenced his professional career in audit. Since joining Nexia Canberra in 2019, Matthew has progressed rapidly through the firm and is now a Partner in the Audit and Assurance division.

Matthew specialises in the provision of external audit services to a broad range of clients, including large and small proprietary companies, not‑for‑profit organisations, and national umbrella bodies. He has been responsible for the audits of a number of significant organisations, including Ageing Australia, the Australian Pharmacy Council, eWater Limited, Housing Industry Association Limited, YMCA Canberra Region, and Woden Community Service.
Matthew has led complex audit engagements across a variety of regulatory environments, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks while delivering insights to strengthen governance, risk management, and financial reporting outcomes.
