With close to 20 years in taxation advisory and compliance, gained in both public practice and commercial tax roles, Jason has advanced understanding of tax-related legislation, case law, rulings and interpretations.
A highly skilled and knowledgeable operator, Jason has specialist knowledge in managing tax disputes, audits and objections (including representing clients in AAT), provision of tax advice relating to business sales to achieve the optimal tax outcome for clients and the application of various international tax anti-avoidance provisions including the controlled foreign corporation (CFC) rules and application of Australia’s tax treaties.
He also has significant experience in preparing and implementing tax risk management policies/governance frameworks for clients and conducting prudential tax/systems reviews. In addition, Jason has advised clients on the operation of the taxation of financial arrangements (TOFA) provisions.
Jason is an astute, client-focussed tax practitioner, who prides himself on developing solid long-term relationships, and in finding practical solutions for his clients' commercial and tax issues.
As a demonstration of his belief in and commitment to clients, Jason acted as a lead advisor on and assisted in carrying a successful case before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) on the operation of the employee/contractor distinction [XVQY and Commissioner of Taxation  AATA 319]. Jason also assists David Montani - National Tax Director in administering Nexia Perth’s fast growing membership based program, Tax Alliance.
