2018 Nexia International Annual Conference
As Ian mentioned within our cover article, from the 7th – 10th November, Nexia Australia had the honour of hosting the 2018 Nexia International Annual Conference in Sydney.
With over 260 delegates and 110 accompanying persons in attendance, the conference focused on “Leading Change” and provided tips, tricks and an abundance of inspiration to all delegates to take back to their local firms.
Another highlight was the presentation by our 2017 Next Leaders. The program was developed in 2014 and to date, we have had 120 young Nexians participate in this leadership program. Their presentation at the international conference was a tribute to the high calibre of people we have within the Nexia network.

New Premises
After 40 years at our old premises, we have moved into a brand-new office space. The new office has a bright, open-plan layout, more space for client meetings and collaborative areas for staff to come together to work or socialize.
To celebrate the move, we hosted a networking event in conjunction with the Canberra Business Chamber, where around 80 members of the community came to check out the new office and network over food and drinks.

NSW Wine Industry Association Awards
We proudly attended the NSW Wine Industry Association Awards again this year in support of our wine industry clients, and also sponsored the Best Red Blend category. We presented the trophy to the wonderful people at Sweetwater Estate for their delicious 2017 Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon. It was also wonderful to see one of our GREAT clients, De Bertoli Wines, take out the NSWWIA Trophy for Best Dry White (again) with their Noble One 2016 Semillon. The NSWWIA Awards was a wonderful event and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
FDC Win Big at the Master Builders Association Awards
We are excited to announce that another one of our GREAT clients, FDC Building, recently won 7 “Excellence in Construction” Awards at the Master Builders Association (MBA) NSW event. FDC are particularly proud to have been awarded both of the key project-specific safety awards (Site Safety - Commercial Projects, <$50M and $50M+), which are testimony to their ‘work safe - live well’ culture. This will bring their total number of awards won this year to an astounding 15!
Macquarie University Incubator Partnership
The Sydney office are delighted to be in partnership with Macquarie University Incubator. The Macquarie University Incubator is a new space for students, researchers, SMEs, entrepreneurs and start-ups who are working on research or an idea that can be commercialised. With a heavy portion of our client base being entrepreneurs and SME’s, Nexia Sydney understands not only how important SME’s and innovative businesses are to our economy, but most importantly how to support these businesses as they grow. Based on this understanding we decided to donate our expertise to the Incubator project and will be supporting their members by providing training and mentoring services to help them to make better business decisions.
