Nexia Australia is excited to announce that Ian Stone, our current Australian Chairman has been appointed Chairman of Nexia International, the world’s ninth-largest network.
Ian joined Nexia's Sydney office when he was only a 17-year-old cadet. When he was 26, he then became one of the youngest partners and from 2002 to 2013, he was Managing Partner of Nexia Sydney.
Further, Ian became Chair of Nexia Australia in 2009, he joined the Nexia International Board in 2011 and was appointed Chair of the Asia Pacific region in 2013, and as of Nexia's Annual Conference, which took place in Cape Town, South Africa on 2 November 2019, Ian now holds the position of Chairman of Nexia International.
''I am very excited to be selected as the first non-European Chair and see this as a great opportunity to ignite and engage all firms throughout their membership. In any network, all firms have an important part to play in its growth and success.
The enduring relationships we have with our clients, our teams and each member throughout our global network is a core value of Nexia and a hallmark of Nexia's success. This makes me particularly proud to be the new Chair of such a wonderful network of professionals.”
At 30 June 2019, Nexia International had more than 32,000 people working in 710 offices throughout 125 countries. In 2018, Nexia's total fee income broke the US$4bn barrier for the first time with more than US$4.02bn across the network – an increase of 11% on 2017. With a prediction of a further increase in 2019 of 9%, this a very exciting time for the Nexia network.
"The next three years will be an exciting time for Nexia as we embark on a review of our Network strategy to incorporate the rapid changes that the profession and our clients are facing every day.
In particular, we are seeing growth in our advisory services across all our firms and, therefore, we need to strengthen and broaden these service lines to ensure we stay relevant to our clients and meet their demands. We also see opportunities within industry specialties as we focus on continuing to add value to our traditional service lines.
I look forward to working with all our members as we navigate our way forward through a sea of change,” Ian said.
